10 on 10: March

I was honored and so excited to be included in this amazing group of photographers in a project called 10 on 10.
The idea is to take 10 photos on the 10th of each month, post them and then link up with a different photographer in the circle each month. I feel it is a fantastic way to share and explore the work of others who have different styles and genres, and who live in different parts of the world.
I missed the first month for our circle unfortunately, but here I am now sharing two of my photographic passions--portraits and the ocean. Fortunately I had the time to visit with and photograph my young, beautiful, model friend, Lily. We went to one of my favorite beaches in La Jolla.
Although I love photographing nature by itself, there is nothing more beautiful to me than bringing nature and people together.
When Lily and I arrived at the beach, the skies were perfectly clear and blue, but within an hour the clouds came in adding that drama to the sky and to the reflections in the wet sand that I absolutely love.
Lily and I left the beach feeling refreshed and filled with joy, and as always, a little wet!

The seagulls and the sandpipers appeared as happy as we were on this beautiful day. It was as if they wanted to play, so Lily happily obliged. Wherever she went, the birds seemed to follow.

For Beyond Beyond week 7--this image holds special meaning for me as I sat in these chairs and met so many amazing women at the ACE Hotel in Palm Springs.
I loved playing with Kim Klassen's newest textures and brushes from her Cloth and Paper collection...So much fun!! Oh, and I added my touch of Palm Springs to this image. I'm sure you can figure out what it is!
I used the mint texture and I played around with a few of the brushes pulling out some of the rust colors.

Petals from Heaven
This is another shot from above that I found for Day 6 of Beyond Beyond with Kim Klassen. It's from the archives--shot nearly three years ago! It's been fun to see photos from the past that I've forgotten about and it's been fun editing now, with all the knowledge I've gained in the last two years.

The First Light
Recently I've been going through old images to better organize them in Lightroom, and I came across this one from almost two years ago. It was my first time using my speedlites off camera and using umbrellas. This is a young woman, Natasha, I believe, who modeled for us as we learned how easy it was. Working with light at the time seemed so daunting to me but I was so surprised to see just how well one, or two little lights could light up this beauty!
It was so great to find this image and I added it to my recently updated website, that I stayed up 'til 2:30a.m. this morning revising!

Tea in the Sahara
For my friends at Beyond Beyond (2B).... I was tied up this week with my Mom in the Hospital (she is all better now), so I edited this photo from about a month ago. I thought it was a perfect 'bringing the inside out' photo! We had to walk through these dunes with the most ornate tea set we borrowed from my friend's (the model) Mom. Fun shoot in Yuma, Arizona!
Beyond the Sea
A triptych for Beyond Beyond. I edited and created the template in Lightroom. It's so amazingly easy (creating the templates in lightroom), I'm sure I'll do it again and again! I used Kim Klassen's Frosted texture.
