Although I have always had a camera and have been accused of documenting every moment in life, it was the ocean that prompted me to get my first DSLR just a few years ago. I moved away from a hectic Post Production career in Los Angeles, and landed in beautiful, calm Cardiff-by-the-Sea in North County, San Diego. I lived steps away from the ocean where at first it was just me, the ocean and my camera. Through my lens I began to see things I had never noticed and my heart would expand when I got to relive and freeze these moments in the images I created.
As I shared my photography, people came to me to take their portraits and my photography business was born. Though I love landscape and fine art photography, I adore photographing people while capturing the most beautiful part of their essence. My business is morphing into something unrecognizable from just two years ago and I recently finished my studies in Photography at UCSD, while dipping my toes into commercial, fashion and conceptual photography. It's been a fun ride...one I could (and will) stay on forever!
I like to get creative and make it so much fun capturing the spirit and personality in the portraits I photograph. I shoot on location bringing my studio to you at home or out in nature!
I'm available for photo shoots in San Diego, Los Angeles, and anywhere in between!
I thank the many photographers who continue to inspire me. The very first being Annie Liebowitz, and then Joyce Tenneson, who I'm happy to say I got to study with for an entire week (yay!), and also Brooke Shaden and Heather Evans Smith, who also taught me so much about conceptual portraiture in the short time I had with them. I'm also very drawn to the work of Tom Chambers, Erik Almas, and Natalie Dybisz (Miss Aniela), just to name a few.
I am also so grateful to Kim Klassen and Christina Greve for all I learn from them far beyond photography.
If you'd like to book a portrait session with me, please email me at kimbells@sbcglobal.net or contact me on my Facebook Page.
Thank you for stopping by my blog!
